Animal Companion: the 'Labradoodle'

"There's a sucker born every minute" is attributed to P. T. Barnum, describing the gullible nature of the public. One might also say there is a con man born every minute as well. And those two sayings very nicely describe the situation around the so called "designer dogs" called "Labradoodles."

Australian Wally Conron bred the first intentional litter of Labrador and poodle mix-breeds back in 1989 when he was the breeding manager for the Royal Guide Dog Association in Australia. Before then, the ever-popular Labrador had had misalliances with just about every breed out there. Labrador mix breeds have traditionally been one of the most common mutts in shelters.
