New county annex building planned

Klickitat County is preparing to build a new building to house its annexes. The new building, says County Commissioner David Sauter, will save money over the long term and provide greater efficiency and convenience.

The facility will be built where the parking lot across the street from the courthouse is now, at Columbus Ave. and W. Court Street.

"It's the first major county facility to be built in Goldendale in about 80 years," Sauter says. The Pioneer Center in White Salmon was built about 20 year ago.

The current county courthouse was a project first begun during World War II when the old Hall Hotel was condemned by the fire marshal. A bond of $120,000 got the ball rolling, and the bui...
