It's time to celebrate two seasons in one

Happy Holy-days! Not long ago I heard someone quite adamant proclaim that folks should stop saying Happy Holidays. We need to keep Christ in Christmas, I was told. This is true! I have never had an issue with the use of Happy Holidays because I know that “holiday” at its root means holy day. For Christians, one of the high holy days of our year is the Nativity of Jesus. Even though no one knows the date of Jesus’ birth, the early church set it on Dec. 25 because the majority of the population already was celebrating holy days.
