AGGRESSION NOT TIED TO ANGER: A tiger after a zebra isn't angry, just hungry. Aggression in a dog isn't always about anger.

Traumatic events tend to leave one with either a stark, clear memory of the event or, more mercifully, no memory at all. In my case it was the former, and five and a half decades later I can still see every detail. I was five years old and my older sister and I had just walked over to the neighbor's farm to visit their kids. Their dog, Pero, was a young adult male German shepherd, purebred, who greeted us and then flopped on his back inviting a belly rub. My sister, myself and the neighbor's daughter, about 10 years old, all crouched down and happily rubbed his tummy.
