Robert (Bob) William Neel, 98, formerly of Goldendale, Washington died Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2019 at Laurel Cove Assisted Living in Shoreline, Washington.

Bob was born August 15, 1921 in Ocoee, Florida, to Joseph F. Neel and Lucile (Moor) Neel. He graduated from Lakeview High School in Winter Garden, Florida, in 1940. He attended the University of Florida for two years before serving in the United States Army Air Corps during World War Two. He earned a Bachelor's degree from the University of Idaho in 1947.

He married Donna French in Ketchikan, Alaska, May 30, 1956. Bob worked for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service before working as a biologist for the Alaska Department of Fisheries. He retired from the Washington State Game Department in 1984 after 27 years, the last 11 as the manager of the Goldendale fish hatchery. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working in his garden and watching the Seattle Seahawks and Seattle Mariners. He was a member of the Grace Brethren Church in Goldendale and was active in the Lion's Club for several years.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Neel of Shoreline,Washington ; children, Laurie Strom (Todd) of Meridian, Idaho, Bill Neel (Jacqueline) of Seattle, Washington, Paul Neel (Jill) of Bellingham, Washington ; sister, Julianna Carroll of Sharon, Connecticut ; eight grandchildren and one-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his son, David Neel (Nancy) in 2014 ; sisters, Marguerite Rogers, Meredith Pateman, Mary Shellhorn, Aileen Keller, Josephine Gehling, and one brother, Monroe Neel.

A graveside service will be held at Acacia Memorial Park and Funeral Home in Seattle, Washington on Jan. 11, 2020 at 2 p.m. with Pastor Ryan Hemphill, Seattle Reformed Presbyterian Church, officiating.
