Browning Fire Extinguishers

New faces at an old company.

IRED UP: Tonya Brewer and Cody Shipp, new owners of Browning Fire Extinguishers, stand behind their products for service and sales.

First there was Bob Browning, who started the Browning Fire Extinguisher company in Goldendale in the 1980s. Then came Dan Chapman, who ran it for several years. And now it's time to meet the new owners, Tonya Brewer and Cody Shipp, who took over the company in October.

Brewer, a true Goldendale native who was born here, recalls the path that led her to ownership. "I was working at the grocery store [now Market Fresh]," she says, "and at a doctor's office as well. And Dan [Chapman] would come in there and at the grocery store. He told me what he was doing. I was a single mom then with four kids. He asked if I wanted to make some extra money and work alongside him doing extinguishers, and...
