Centerville School to celebratea century of history this year

First Class: These women were the first graduating class of the Centerville School, which celebrates it's centennial anniversary this year.

The Centerville School will celebrate its 100th birthday on Friday, May 1. The brick school building, completed in November 1919, is one of the oldest continually occupied school buildings in the state.

The public is invited to participate and observe a wonderful tribute to this resourceful school and community on May 1. Activities begin with a parade from the Grange Hall to the school at 10 a.m. Stories about the history of the school, a skit about the first high school graduation class of six girls a hundred years ago, a school lunch, and games for the students will be some of the highlights of the day. The entire community is welcome to attend.
