Coronavirus sparks action at state and local level

Despite COVID-19 claiming the lives of six Washingtonians so far, public health officials say that for the average American, the health risk is low. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) states, "At this time most people in the United States will have little immediate risk of exposure to this virus. This virus is not currently spreading widely in the United States." Its long-term assessment is not as rosy, saying at some point widespread transmission in the U.S. will occur, though a number of factors might mitigate that outlook. Other health organizations say it is too early to tell eventual outcomes.
