Fifth coronavirus case found in Klickitat County

March 18, 2020

Last night, March 23, the Emergency Operations Center in Unified Command with the Klickitat County Public Health Department confirmed the fifth case of COVID-19. The patient is considered low risk to our community and has self-quarantined with no close contacts since the first onset of symptoms. The fifth case is in Klickitat County Central Zone.

"We cannot emphasize enough the importance of physical distancing (six feet or more between yourself and others) and prohibiting all social gatherings to prevent the spread of the virus," the Center said in a statement. "Each potential exposure stresses the healthcare system and places higher demands on personal protective equipment and healthcare workers. We must be mindful while our area hospitals are proactively preparing to take care of our community, and we must all share a responsibility in the prevention of the spread of COVID-19. Further details are not available for release at this time."

Resources available within Klickitat County include the Skyline Hospital screening tool available on their website at https://myskylinehealth.org, and the KVH Nurse Helpline which is currently operating; they can be reached by calling 773-4029.
