An economist at the University of Wyoming recently dared to ask a troubling, perhaps forbidden question: "Are we overreacting?"

The comment from Dr. Linda Thunstrom, reported in yesterday's New York Times, was daring because it raised the question of whether or not the cure may be as bad as the disease-even as Thunstrom and others granted the inexorable pull of safety concern. Does anyone really want to risk human life for playing Bingo somewhere? But a growing group of political and business leaders are asking for a closer look at the reactivity spawned by the coronavirus.
