Remembering the old nursing home

COMING DOWN: The former nursing home building in Goldendale was in the first stages of demolition.

Richard Lefever, who does the "Looking Back" column for The Sentinel, sent this special piece on the old nursing home.

With demolition about to start, I thought I'd give an additional Looking Back:

Sept. 3, 1964 – 56 Years Ago

The Simcoe Manor Nursing Home, located on the former Branton property in the south city limits of Goldendale, will be open for acceptance of patients, Tuesday, Sept. 8, and before the week is ended, at least 30 elderly citizens are expected to register.

Built at a cost $300,000 the Simcoe Manor Nursing Home offers the finest in facilities in caring for elderly citizens. Private, semi-private and three bed wards to accommodate 80 people are available in the home, w...
