Airwing ready for transport services


Klickitat County Sheriff Bob Songer announced last week that the Klickitat County Sheriff’s Airwing, a commissioned special volunteer unit of the sheriff’s office headed by aviator Doug Herlihy, is currently on standby to transport medical supplies to rural Washington and Oregon hospitals treating COVID 19 patients.

The Airwing is available to assist the Yakima, Benton, Sherman, Gilliam and Wasco county sheriff’s departments at a moments notice.

The Airwing consists of seven volunteer pilots. Normally, they provide air support to KCSD during wildfires, when searching for missing persons, and to locate lost cattle.
