Bickleton holds drive-by birthday celebration

YOU DON'T TURN 90 EVERY DAY: The Bickleton community found a creative way to honor Ada Ruth Whitmore (center) this weekend on her 90th birthday. Drive-by greetings made the day special for her and her Family: left to right, Christine Whitmore, dave Whitmore, Ada Ruth, Caroline Cleveland, Jack Whitmore, and Tom Whitmore.

There have been many birthday celebrations for Ada Ruth Whitmore, lifetime resident of Bickleton, Washington, but none so unique as her 90th she celebrated on Saturday. With the present social distancing regulations in place, her family, not wanting her 90th year to go unobserved, came up with the idea of a drive-by birthday party. They sent word out inviting people to drive by, give Ada Ruth Happy Birthday wishes, and receive a piece of birthday cake to go. The day was beautiful with bright sunshine and warm temperatures, as if God gave His own birthday gift to Ada Ruth.
