May 18, 1950 - 70 Years Ago

Joe Allyn, popular Goldendale pioneer, who helped build the City “from Scratch,” is anxiously awaiting Tuesday, May 23, for on that day Joe will observe his 83rd birthday, 71 of those years being spent in this city. Joe came to Goldendale in September, 1879. During his long residence in this city, he has built and helped build over 250 houses and business buildings. For many years, he operated Allyn’s Carpenter Shop on East Broadway (site of Lube Bros), retiring from business a few years ago.
