Local man providing ammo for agencies around the state

Steve Shields took his experience in law enforcement and decided to go into firearms training and gun ammunition. It was a good move. Today, Shields' company, Cerberus Training Group/High Desert Cartridge Company on Columbus Avenue in Goldendale, is making about 70,000 rounds of ammunition a week to go to points all around the state. And he trains people from gun novices to SWAT teams for law enforcement agencies.

Shields hung out his shingle at 915 S. Columbus Avenue on Feb. 1. But his expertise got its start in law enforcement first with the forest service in 1986, then to the park service in 1987, then to the town of Morton the same year. He came to Klickitat county in 1989 to work wit...
