BLM protest comes to Lyle

Crowds began to gather long before the official 2pm kickoff of a Black Lives Matter (BLM) rally organized in Lyle on Thursday, July 2.

Over 100 residents, concerned citizens, and law enforcement representing a diversity of viewpoints lined Highway 14 between Fourth and Seventh Streets in downtown Lyle for most of the afternoon, armed with flags, banners, signs, and guns. Turnout appeared to be majority white, with participation from Lyle, broader Klickitat County, and communities across the river in The Dalles, Hood River, and Mosier.
