Inslee mandates state-wide 'no mask, no service'



NEW MANDATE: Gov. Jay Inslee, wearing a face mask, Thursday held a press conference in which he announced a state-wide "no mask, no service" policy that took effect yesterday.

As of yesterday, all of Washington state is now under an order from Gov. Jay Inslee prohibiting businesses to serve anyone not wearing a face mask. The policy is called "No mask, no service."

Before yesterday, only Yakima County was under such an order. Last Thursday, the governor announced the policy would encompass the entire state beginning July 7. He made the announcement while wearing a mask during a press conference.

Inslee said the mandate results from increasing cases of COVID-19 across the state. Infections per day peaked in April, dropped in the rest of April and in May, but then started increasing again last month. He said the virus cases are now back up to the previous peak, t...
