Companion Animal: A model for county animal control Part 2

One model of such cooperation is the animal control in Thurston County, Washington. Rather than have Olympia, Lacey, Tumwater, and the county all reinventing the wheel, the four jurisdictions banded together to form "Joint Animal Services." The animal control officers respond to calls in any of the member jurisdictions, and daily logs keep track of the units of service each jurisdiction receives. The amount of money each city or the county chips in is based on the units of service each receives. All animals are taken to one location, all lost and found, dead on the road, and the like are listed at the same place, removing all confusion for the public.
