As with COVID-19, public awareness and cooperation is the key to mitigation of the virus and its ultimate impact on pet and meat rabbits as well as local wild populations of rabbits and the predatory wildlife which depend on them as a food source. Klickitat County residents can help to stop the spread of RHDV2 by making sure that domestic pet or meat rabbits have no contact with wild rabbit populations. Hutches should have a rabbit-proof barrier around their base to restrict wild rabbits from having contact with feces or urine.
