Don Milberger

November 20, 2019

Don Milberger was born Sept. 24, 1927, in Geary, Nebraska, and passed away peacefully on Oct. 29, 2019, in Vancouver, Washington. As an adult in 1946, Don met up with Billie Joe Kessinger and John Willsey at a train station in Oklahoma, where the three of them built what would be a lifelong friendship on a trip to Klickitat County. Don had always been a hard-working man. He spent time working at J. Neils and St. Regis sawmill. He spent some time at the Goldendale Aluminum Plant as well. Don was fond of farming and after moving from his farm in Appleton to Goldendale, he often helped other farmers. Don and Shirley owned and operated the Rialto in Goldendale. The place was well known for its chicken, to the point that Don would not cook chicken after he retired. Don would often spend weekends with his brother Ed in the boxing ring, and his passion for the sport never went away. He was a proud hunter and you would often find him out in the woods during elk season. But the thing that Don loved to do most with his time was fish. Morning , noon, and night, every day of the week, Don could be found along the river fishing. The excitement he had everyday was to know that he could go out and fish for Northern Pikeminnow and get paid! There were many days that Don wasn't even seen because he would fish so many hours. He was the best fisherman in the area.

He will be greatly missed by all of his family, friends, neighbors, and community members.

Don is preceded in death by his wife Shirley, his sons Johnny and Robert Milberger, and daughter Sam Inglis.

He is survived by his daughter Sue Emerson and husband Tim Hadley and daughter Cheryl Brown all of Carson, Washington; and son-in- law Rusty Inglis of Princeton, Oregon. Don is also survived by his grandkids Jeanette Milberger and her daughter Kelsey Matney of The Dalles, Oregon; Connie Emerson and her children Devon Henrichsen and Tessa Garwood of Carson; Christina and Chris Charpentier and their children Christopher and Havannah of Pendleton, Oregon; Lapis Jean Soulé and her son Vajra Rad Justice Soulé of Ashland, Oregon; Jake Milberger and his kids Bryan, Jordan, and Kaitlyn Milberger of Goldendale; Mike and LeAndra Kessinger and their children KeAndra, Billie Jean, Mikey, Kaydon, Kaleb, and Sammy, all of Goldendale; and Courtney Milberger and daughter Mia of Boise, Idaho. He is also survived by seven great-great-grandchildren.

The family asks you to join them to share many great memories and a potluck meal at the Goldendale Grange, 228 East Darland, on Friday, Nov. 22, 2019, at 5 p.m.
